Pioneer Pacific Camp, located on Thetis Island and accessible by ferry from Chemainus, offers an outstanding venue for your Outdoor Education Programs and retreats. With 76 acres situated on three beautiful bays, the camp provides relatively sheltered waterfront recreation, an excellent environment for your marine studies and a wide range of ecosystems to discover and enjoy.

Pioneer Pacific Camp is a wonderful setting for:
  • school groups
  • youth groups
  • church family camps
  • retreats
  • and more...
The Pioneer Pacific site is able to offer a setting and equipment for the following activities:
On the water: canoeing, kayaking, sailing, beach studies and small boat expeditions (Navy whalers)
On the land: orienteering, field games, sand volleyball court, low ropes initiatives course, archery, Frisbee golf course, scrambling wall, a seasonal outdoor pool and many trails for you to enjoy on this small Gulf Island.

We have a variety of sleeping accommodations. Currently, there are 132 beds in heated buildings and an additional 70 beds available in tent platforms and cabanas. Most cabins sleep ten, in five bunk beds. Four of the buildings feature in-house washrooms and showers; the others have fully-plumbed washhouses nearby. A private self-contained cabin is available, offering accommodation for speakers or directors.

The dining hall is in a separate building with a full bank of windows from sitting level to our 12 foot ceiling overlooking the main bay, with seating for over 200 and an up-to-date commercial kitchen.  Adjacent to this dining hall is a small carpeted room with a wood stove, ideal for gatherings of up to 30 people.

The site also has a lodge a stone’s throw from the dining hall for your large group gathering, with an open fire place and area suited for your crafts or lab program. Situated next to the lodge is a waterfront outdoor fire ring available for your use while fire permits are active.
